Butterfly AI is operated by W-Force International Limited ("Butterfly AI", "we", "us" or "our"). This policy applies to the Butterfly AI iOS application and the services used to provide its features.

Butterfly AI does not require an account. We do not use advertising identifiers, sell personal information, or track users across apps and websites owned by other companies.

Content you choose to provide

The app processes information that you type, paste, save, or otherwise choose to provide. This may include relationship details, profile information, preferences, memories, journal-style notes, prompts, and the content of email or text messages you choose to share with the app for coaching or analysis.

Photos and screenshots

Google ML Kit performs text recognition locally on your device. When a user requests screenshot analysis, the selected screenshot and the text recognized locally on the device are securely sent through the Butterfly backend to OpenAI for analysis.

Butterfly AI does not intentionally retain selected screenshots as a separate long-term copy and does not use screenshots for advertising or unrelated purposes.

Information stored on your device

Relationship profiles, saved memories, preferences, and conversation history are stored locally on your device. We do not maintain a Butterfly AI user account containing this information.

Limited technical information

Our hosting and AI providers may automatically process routine technical information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot their services, such as request time, network information, and service logs. Butterfly AI does not use this information for advertising or cross-app tracking.

We use information only as reasonably necessary to:

• provide relationship coaching, summaries, reflections, and answers you request;
• recall relevant context and saved memories for a more useful experience;
• recognise text in screenshots you select;
• operate, secure, maintain, and improve the app and its supporting service; and
• comply with applicable law and protect users, our service, and others.

We do not use your content to build advertising profiles, and we do not share it with data brokers.

When you use an AI-powered feature, the app sends the content needed to answer your request. Depending on the feature, this can include your current prompt, recent conversation messages, relationship status, and relevant saved memories. For screenshot analysis, it also includes the selected screenshot and the text recognized locally on your device, which are securely sent through the Butterfly backend to OpenAI for analysis. Do not submit information you do not want processed.

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments. Information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, with safeguards required by applicable law.

Local app data remains on your device until you delete it in Butterfly AI, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app. Removing the app may permanently delete locally stored profiles, memories, preferences, and conversation history unless your device backup retains a copy.

We do not intentionally keep a separate long-term copy of AI conversation content on our backend. We also do not intentionally retain selected screenshots as a separate long-term copy. Service providers may retain limited content or logs according to their policies, including for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, and service operation. Screenshots are not used for advertising or unrelated purposes.

• You decide what information to enter, save, or submit for AI processing.
• You can edit or delete saved memories and profiles in the app.
• You can change photo access at any time in iOS Settings.
• You can delete locally stored data by removing it in the app or uninstalling the app.
• You may contact us to ask a privacy question or exercise rights available under applicable law.

Because Butterfly AI does not require an account, we may not be able to identify or retrieve local information stored only on your device. We may need reasonable information to verify a request involving data we control.

Children

Butterfly AI is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app or legal requirements change. We will revise the date at the top of this page and provide additional notice where required.
